About
Girls Who Code (GWC) is a non-profit organization founded in 2012
by Reshma Saujani, who endeavored take action against the gender difference in technology careers and change the image of what a programmer looks like.
As of 2015, only 18% of computer science college graduates were women.
GWC aims to change that by introducing Computer Science to girls at a young age through an enjoyable and intuitive program, so that the technology field will become more diverse in the future.
Now, GWC has reached 90,000 girls of all backgrounds in 50 states!
Members of GWC are encouraged to cultivate bravery, resilience, persistence, creativity, ambition, and integrity. Such valuable qualities will help them in their career endeavors and their lives in the future.
